Barry’s Holiday Ice Bowls
First, determine the use and desired size of your ice bowl.
A large stainless or plastic bowl (glass is not recommended) is used as the base bowl and a smaller bowl as the floating bowl.
Pour room temperature water into the larger base bowl. Drop decorative items in the water.
Float the smaller bowl in the water in the larger base bowl. Press the floating bowl downward until it is approximately one inch from the base bowl.
Be careful to center the top bowl in relation to the base bowl. Using duct tape, tape the top of the recessed top bowl to the base bowl.
Continue taping the bowls together in the north, south, east and west positions.
Remove excess water from between the bowls until water is one inch from the top of the base bowl.
With all of the tape securely holding the two bowls together, carefully place the bowls in the freezer on a level plane.
Leave bowls in freezer for 24 hours for a hard freeze.
Remove bowls and let sit at room temperature until both bowls detach from the ice (1 to 2 hours). Remove tape.
Do not try to rush the thawing procedure. Running water on the bowls will cause the ice to break. They must rest at room temperature.
Place finished bowl in a plate or a decorative, rimmed container with rock salt.
Fill with goodies and enjoy the accolades!
