An Evening of Jazz with Gary Fields at Jackson's Steakhouse

Live Music at Jacksons with Gary Fields

On Friday, September 25, Jackson's Steakhouse will host an evening of jazz with the standout New York recording vocalist Gary Fields. This incredible event includes a three-course, five-star meal along with a spectacular show.

Gary Fields, an American Jazz-Pop singer who has performed in many venues and cities across the United States, including, most recently, Pensacola for the 450th celebration. Fields, a youthful crooner with a love of classic and contemporary tunes, is determined to make the Great American Songbook appealing for a new generation. "I love the sass of Bobby Darin, and that velvety tone that defined Mel Tormé," Fields says. "Tony Bennett has raw power and that understated delivery. And naturally, I absorb anything and everything I can from Frank Sinatra." Fields' debut recording, "Sounds About Right!" displays the sound of an entertainer who studied the qualities of his idols and created his own unique style, marked by attention to his own good instincts and the intentions of the composers. According to eJazz News, "There's no doubt about this recording; as a debut, 'Sounds About Right!' is one of the elite jazz vocal releases of the year." Scott Yanow of the L.A. Jazz Scene states, "Gary Fields has his own distinctive voice, and on his debut 'Sounds About Right!' he interprets a high-quality set of standards with sincerity, a quiet joy, and a solid sense of swing." Jackson's is thrilled to be hosting such a talent right here in Pensacola.

Fields will perform a number of selections for the evening, including a tribute to Bobby Darin, "As Long As I'm Singin'." This isGary Fields' fresh take on Bobby Darin, one of America's most popular Big Band, Jazz, and Rock and Roll idols. Darin was a multi-faceted performer whose musical career exploded with the rock ditty "Splish Splash" in 1959 and took a more serious turn just a couple of years later with the Grammy-winning recording "Mack The Knife." Gary Fields' tribute to the late singer will make you feel like you won a spot at New York's famed Copacabana, where Darin held court to standing-room-only crowds. Gary Fields swings and croons his way through classic arrangements and offers new takes on others, making this a show for popular music lovers of all generations.

The dinner will feature a special presentation of three courses by Chef Irv Miller. To start, he will offer a selection of cream of crab soup with fresh chives or Jackson's unique mixed greens salad-as presented by your server-along with a choice of one of the following entrees: Roasted filet of rib eye topped with artichokes, caramelized turnip root and mushroom sauté with celery-garlic mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus; wood-fired free-range chicken breast with harissa-sweet red chili glaze and a vegetable sauté with currants and toasted almonds with goat cheese risotto; or yellowedge grouper topped with sweet corn, bell pepper, cilantro and lobster salsa with smoky paprika rice and chipotle lime butter sauce. Dessert selections will include a chocolate mousse or crème brûlée.
