About Alyse
Alyse Black's quirky-but-sultry-pop sophomore album, "Hold Onto This," was recorded and produced by Ryan Hadlock (The Strokes, Ra Ra Riot, Foo Fighters) and released in late 2009. Her first album, "Too Much & Too Lovely," won first place in Billboard's Sixteenth Annual World Song Contest (Jazz) and the International Independent Singer-Songwriter Awards (Jazz), among other awards.
Black's vocal-based indie-pop is frequently compared to the ridiculously playful Regina Spektor; the spacious, anything-goes Björk; and the soft and throbbing Norah Jones.
Alyse began her musical career singing on the streets of Pike Place Market in Seattle. One rare sunny afternoon, the pianist for a Seattle jazz group, No Jive Five, wandered by, stood captivated for a moment, and then explained: he needed another singer for a show that night at a local club, St. Clouds. It was perfect for a girl who was too passionate for her over-educated background. There was no looking back.
About The Infatuation Tours 2010
Each leg of Alyse's touring in 2010 will be named for one of the nine Greek Muses. The tour is called "Infatuation" out of gratitude for the gift of creativity and the ears that choose to listen, and named after one of the Muses out of respect for inspiration. The east coast leg will be called "Infatuation: Erato" after the Greek Muse and goddess of lyric poetry, also called "The Desired" or "The Lovely." Alyse chose this goddess for this tour because spring is the time of lovely things being born and lush beauty returning to the land.
